Greetings Everyone!!!
Community Living: Is it Truly Possible?
With the growing necessity to come together to retain the heritage of Sanatana Dharma, we are striving to find ways to improve our lives and pass this culture on to future generations.
Any new initiative initially brings a lot of hope and happiness—whether it is a small step in spiritual sadhana, interacting with those rooted in dharma, or reviving lost traditions within our families.
However, as we stand firm in our convictions and deepen our actions, we often encounter unexpected reactions, both from within ourselves and from the world around us. These moments can make us feel as though our approach is flawed, that people are not as welcoming as they seemed, or that we are aiming for an unreachable goal.
At such a juncture, it is vital to reflect upon these questions:
- Are we being judgmental in our interactions?
- Are we losing sight of our original intent and purpose?
- Are we staying true to ourselves in both thought and action?
When we observe ourselves and the world as a detached witness, free from bias, we begin to understand the “play” of the Supreme Self. This clarity allows us to act in a manner that aligns our individual lives with the Universal Self.
We must remember that if we remain sincere in our thoughts and actions, our flaws will be corrected. We will be guided through every challenge by the omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent Parabrahman.
As a Foundation working to make community living a healthy and blissful experience for present and future generations, we share these insights from our own experiences, the blessings of our Gurus, and the grace of our ever-loving Mother Kameswari and Sri Prasannanjaneya Swamy.
With prostrations to our Gurus, Mother Kameswari, Sri Prasannanjaneya Swamy, and our elders to bless us, guide us, and hold us in every step, we present our April Newsletter. It covers the activities which have helped us in understanding our strengths and areas to work upon in a better way in fulfilling our vision for a better future.
1.Discourse by Dr.Jammalamadaka Suryanarayana garu on Adi Shankaracharya’s works at Sri Sharada Parameswari Devasthanam – Guntur – 18-Apr-26
śruti smṛti purāṇānāṃ ālayam karuṇālayam |
namāmi bhagavatpādaṃ śaṅkaraṃ lokaśaṅkaram ||
In the tradition of offering salutations to the Guru Parampara (lineage of teachers), whether one begins with “Narayana Samarambham” or “Sadashiva Samarambham,” Jagadguru Shankara Bhagavatpada is the universal master who is invariably remembered and revered by all.
Adi Shankaracharya is the very personification of Advaita. He performed a supreme service to mankind by providing profound commentaries and a treasure trove of hymns, ensuring that the ancient wisdom bestowed by Sage Vyasa remains accessible and meaningful even to the modern world.
We celebrate Shankara Jayanti on Vaishakha Shuddha Panchami, the day this great soul incarnated.
To mark this occasion, the “Aham Brahmasmi” organization conducted a special lecture series titled “Adi Shankara Vaibhavam” at the Sri Sharada Parameswari Temple in Guntur. On the inaugural day, our Acharya, Dr.Jammalamadaka Suryanarayana garu, was blessed with the opportunity to deliver a discourse.
The vast literary heritage left behind by Adi Shankaracharya stands as a testament to his title as Jagadguru. He provided divine instruments of practice suitable for seekers at every stage of their spiritual journey—ranging from devotional Stotras (hymns) to the profound commentaries on the Prasthanatrayam, and foundational texts like Vakya Vritti that illuminate the highest truths.
The hallmark of his work is its universal benefit; it bestows both material well-being in this life and spiritual bliss in the hereafter. Whatever one’s specific Vedic tradition may be, Shankara’s works offer a path of practice that aligns perfectly with that lineage.
Selecting several of these hymns, Dr.Jammalamadaka Suryanarayana garu explained, in accordance with the Shastras, how Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya envisioned the nature of the Divine, the ultimate goal of the soul, and the methods of realization. He drew from the specific verses of Ganesha Pancharatna Stotram, Pratah Smarana Stotram, Subrahmanya Bhujanga Stotram, Swarupa Anusandhana Ashtakam, Devi Bhujanga Stotram, and from Vakya Vritti.
A distinguished scholar in Nyaya and Vedanta, our Acharya beautifully integrated the concepts of various deities while elucidating the path to life’s supreme goal.
This discourse offers the experience of a true Satsang. It leaves us contemplative, reminding us in simple yet profound language that if the question—“Am I truly living as a human, having been born as one?”—arises within us, it marks the very first step toward the dawn of wisdom and our ultimate elevation.
We offer our heartfelt gratitude to Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Guntur Sri Sharada Parameswari Devasthanam, and the Aham Brahmasmi organization for this rare and precious opportunity.
2.Acharyas Dr.J.Srinivas garu and Dr.J.Suryanarayana Garu delivered Vakyartha at Sri Sringeri Sankara Math, Nallakunta – 19-Apr-26
Distinguished Nyaya and Vedanta scholars,Dr.J.Suryanarayana garu and Dr.J.Srinivas garu, presented Vakyartha on Nyaya Shastra and Vedanta Shastra respectively at the Sastrartha Sabha organized by Sri Sringeri Sankara Math, Nallakunta, Hyderabad. The session was presided over by BrahmaSri Viswanatha GopalaKrishna Sastry garu.
Dr. J. Srinivas garu delivered Vakyartha on Saptagatyadhikaranam from the Brahma Sutras. This section explores the number of pranas (sensory organs/energies) in a human being—whether they number seven, eight, eleven, or thirteen.
The Siddhanta (conclusion) states that eleven (5 Jnanendriyas, 5 Karmendriyas, and Manas) is the correct count, as it logically encompasses the lower numbers.
Dr.Srinivas garu highlighted this as a beautiful example of the Bharatiya approach to systematic problem-solving.
Dr. J. Suryanarayana garu discussed the varieties of Jati (a category of Jalpa in the context of debate). Building upon his previous session on the types of Chala, he explained Jati—tactics used specifically to secure victory over an opponent, even when a true logical point is lacking.
With the growing culture of debate in every facet of life, understanding these ancient classifications helps us remain objective. It teaches us not to take it to heart when others intentionally sideline the main topic just to ‘win’ an argument.
While Shastrartha Sabhas typically happen entirely in Sanskrit, a unique highlight of this event was that BrahmaSri Viswanatha GopalaKrishna Sastry garu provided a Telugu translation after each Vakyartha. This allows the audience to verify their understanding of the profound topics discussed.
You can watch the Shastrartha Sabha through the link below. (Note: We apologize for the low audio quality.)
3.Shankara Jayanti Celebrations at Our Gurukulam – 21-04-2026
Shankara Jayanthi was celebrated with devotion and depth at our Gurukulam on 21st April 2026. All 15 students came together for a heartfelt observance that combined ritual worship with scholarly reflection.
The celebration began with a Shodashopachara Puja — a complete 16-step worship offered to Adi Shankaracharya — performed with full involvement of the students, making it a living lesson in our ritual tradition.
This was followed by a pravachanam of one and a half hour, which explored the towering significance of Shankaracharya in the Sanatana tradition. The discourse reflected on a deeply evocative question — Had Shankara not walked this earth, what would have become of our ancient traditions? At a time when the philosophical and spiritual fabric of Bharata was under severe strain, it was Shankara’s intervention — through his commentaries, his travels, his debates, his Mathas, and his disciples — that re-established the Vedic vision with unmatched clarity and force. The pravachanam brought alive the magnitude of his contribution in a way that was accessible and deeply moving for students and listeners alike.
It was a pious occasion that blended shraddha with viveka — devotion with understanding — exactly in the spirit of the Jagadguru himself.
4.Prof.Ganti Suryanarayana Murthy garu’s Visti to Our Gurukulam – 21-04-2026
We were honoured to welcome Sri Ganti Suryanarayana Murthy garu, representing the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India, to our Gurukulam on 22nd April 2026 — on the auspicious occasion of Shankara Jayanti.
The visit was a wonderful opportunity for us to share the work being done here — nurturing an environment where both boys and girls are encouraged to explore, experience, and embody our rich living tradition.
Sri Ganti Murthy garu interacted warmly with our students. In a spontaneous and delightful moment, our boys recreated an Antakshari in Krishna Yajurveda — a demonstration that left a deep impression on the visitor. He also spent time with our girl students, enquiring about the curriculum and the approach we follow in bringing the classical tradition to young learners.
He was then taken to our Library-cum-Studio, the heart of our content creation and academic engagements, where he got a sense of the depth and scope of the work underway.
Sri Ganti Murthy garu appreciated the efforts being made here and encouraged us to continue. It is worth noting that this was a personal visit on his part — making his interest in and affirmation of our work all the more meaningful.
We are grateful for his time and the inspiration his visit has brought to our entire Gurukulam family.
5.Talk on Non-dualism in a multi polar world By Dr.J.Suryanarayana garu @ Savijnanam Talk Series – 22-Apr-26
On the occasion of Shankara Jayanti, Dr.J.Suryanarayana garu, had the privilege of speaking at the Savijnanam Talk Series organised by Vijnana Bharati, alongside Manjushree Hegde, Research Fellow at MyThik, with Dr V. Ramanathan of IIT BHU moderating the session.
The talk explored how Adi Shankaracharya’s Advaita Vedanta offers a profound counterpoint to the fragmented, multi-polar frameworks that dominate our contemporary understanding of the world. While modern geopolitical, cultural, and even philosophical models tend to see reality in multiplicity — as competing forces, identities, and truths — Shankara’s vision points to an underlying non-dual ground beneath all apparent difference.
Central to the discussion was Shankara’s two-tier model of reality: Vyavaharika Satta, the empirical or transactional level at which the world of diversity is engaged with practically, and Paramarthika Satta, the absolute level at which only Brahman — pure, undivided consciousness — is real. Far from dismissing the world of multiplicity, this framework gracefully accommodates it while never losing sight of the deeper unity. It is precisely this that makes Advaita so relevant in a world pulled in many directions.
Dr.J.Suryanarayana garu also drew attention to two often underappreciated dimensions of Shankara’s contribution. First, his role in the stotra tradition — devotional hymns such as the Bhaja Govindam and Soundarya Lahari reveal that Advaita is not cold abstraction but a living, felt realisation, approached also through bhakti and beauty. Second, the centrality of the Prasthanatraya — the Upanishads, the Brahmasutras, and the Bhagavad Gita — as the triple canonical foundation through which Shankaracharya systematised and transmitted the Advaita path for all seekers.
It was a deeply enriching evening, and a fitting tribute to the Jagadguru on his Jayanti.
6.VedaVignanam – Episode – 10 – Responsibilities of Veda Students & Parents in Gurukula System
Many parents today, regardless of their profession, are enrolling their children in Veda Pathashalas. They do so with the noble belief that by providing Vedic education, they can preserve the profound heritage of wisdom gifted to us by our Rishis and find spiritual fulfillment in their own lives.
However, is simply enrolling a child in a Gurukula enough to ensure their success?
How should those studying the Vedas lead their lives?
In what ways must parents provide active support to their children?
In today’s fast-paced world, finding answers to these questions is as crucial as it is complex. These answers must be explored from multiple perspectives—taking into account modern lifestyles, current educational systems, and the psychological well-being of the students.
In this video, Sri Kunapuli Ganesh Karthikeya Ghanapathi Garu provides deep insights into this intricate subject.
After watching this video, if you recognize the importance of this issue and wish to join us in our social responsibility to create a better environment for these children, please feel free to contact us.
7.Sri BalaTripuraSundari Devi Charitra — A Devotional Episode Series – Episode – 3 (Telugu)
Jagadamba Lalitā Devi always protects those who come to her with distress and surrender. The sacred story of how she appeared and saved the world was given by Brahmasri Tadepalli Raghava Narayana Sastry garu (Chandolu Sastry garu) through his book Sri BalaTripuraSundari Devi Charitra. We are blessed to bring this sacred devotional story through series of episodes.
In our 3rd episode of this devotional series, we explore:
What did Bhandasura do after learning about the Yagna being performed by the Devas on the Himalayas after a lapse of 500 years?
How were the Devatas able to successfully complete the remaining 500 years of the Yagna?
What is the profound connection between the divine manifestation of Sri Bala Tripura Sundari Devi and the destruction of Bhandasura?
Beyond the narrative, this episode also addresses key philosophical questions:
Who are the “Rakshasas” in a deeper sense?
What inner strength and capability are required to confront and overcome them?
Discover the answers to these questions along with their inner meanings in this third episode of the series.
